Every year, especially around the New Year, a majority of people make new goals, resolutions, and plans for the year ahead. Often with those goals comes new hobbies. And with new hobbies comes more stuff.
There is a term that encapsulates this increase in stuff. It’s called clutter creep and it means the accumulation of new things as we go through life. It’s the adding of more to your space without getting rid of something else at the same time. Without discipline, it’s easy to end up with a home overrun by all of the stuff you need to do these hobbies or accomplish your new goals.
Figuring out what to do with this happens - because trust me it will happen - is not only possible, but there are steps you can take to keep it from happening in the first place.
The good news is you can still be a minimalist and have hobbies. You can even have more than one hobby. It depends on what other stuff you have, the space you have in your home, and what ultimately brings you joy.
